Youth (PreK-5th Grade) Register to Wrestle Today:

Green Machine youth wrestling will begin Tuesday, November 19 at the Faribault High School wrestling room.  Click here >>> information flyer and online registration form.  There will also be a Mandatory Parent Information Meeting held on the first practice date – Tuesday, November 19 at 6:30pm in the High School cafeteria.

Practices will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the High School wrestling room.  Session 1 (PreK – 2nd Grade) from 5:30-6:30.  Session 2 (3rd – 5th Grade) from 6:30-8:00.

High School & Middle School Registration:

– Varsity/JV practice starts Monday, November 18.

– Middle School practice starts on Monday, December 2.

– Register by Monday, November 11.

– Middle School students: Register for the sport and pay the middle school fee, regardless of what level you participate.

– High School Information meeting at High School cafeteria at 5:30pm on Thursday, November 21.

Leichtnam hits 100! Viland and Hausen also top milestones!

Senior Cooper Leichtnam ’24 topped 100 career wins on January 25th against Albert Lea. Congrats Coop!!

Leichtnam has been a mainstay in the middle of the Falcons line-ups for a number of years, and wrestled for the Faribault Green Machine youth program.

Also topping career milestones for the Falcons, Elliott Viland reached 125 career wins on the same night.  In the week prior, JT Hausen reached 175 career wins during a tournament title at Eastview.

Falcons send 5 to STATE!

The Falcons sent 5 to the 2023 MSHSL State Tournament, while also had four wrestlers just miss with 3rd Place finishes. Elliott Viland (160 lbs) won the Section 1AAA championship, while JT Hausen (120), senior Ricky Cordova (126) Bo Bokman (145), and senior Hunter Conrad (152) all finished second place to advance to the Minnesota State Tournament on March 3-4. The Falcons also sent five individuals to the 2022 State Tournament with five section champions, and had not sent 5 wrestlers since 2017.  Isaac Yetzer (138) and senior Gabe Shatskikh (220) just missed the state tournament with 3rd Place finishes. Both were state entrants in 2022.  Senior George Soto (182) dropped a close true-second match to finish in 3rd Place, while 7th-grader Lain Kuhlman (106) avenged an earlier season loss to also finish in 3rd Place.  Lucas Nelson (113), Marcos Ramirez (195), and Giovani Pino (Hwt) all finished with 4th Place finishes. Cooper Leichtnam (170) suffered an injury to finish 6th place.

 

Viland reaches 100 career wins and Section 1AAA title in same match!

Junior Elliott Viland ’24 topped 100 career wins on February 24th while winning the Section 1AAA title at 160 pounds. Congrats Elliott!!!

Elliott has been wrestling on varsity since 7th Grade for the Falcons, and wrestled for the Faribault Green Machine youth program where he was a NYWA state champion. Viland is also standout quarterback for the Bethleham Academy football team.  He is two-year starter at quarterback for the Cardinals leading the team to the 2022 Section championship game.

Yetzer joins the Falcons 100 win club!

Junior Isaac Yetzer ’24 topped 100 career wins on January 20th against Mahtomedi.  Congrats Ike!!!

Yetzer has been wrestling on varsity since 7th Grade for the Falcons, and wrestled for the Faribault Green Machine youth program.  Yetzer was a 2022 state entrant following his Section 1AAA championship, and broke the Falcons season record with 27 pins in the 2021-2022 season.

Coach Armbruster notches 300th career win

Six years ago, Head Coach Jesse Armbruster ’92 passed 200 wins along with becoming the winningest coach in Falcons history.  On January 20th, Armbruster topped 300 career wins with a 56-18 win on the road over Mahtomedi.  Armbruster was recognized at a home triangular on January 31st with his former high school coach Dave Henry presenting him with a plaque commemorating the milestone.

JT Hausen tops 100 career wins, and takes home 3rd at State!!

Sophomore JT Hausen ’24 went over 100 career wins on March 4th at the Minnesota State Tournament.  The following day, Hausen capped off his milestone with a 3rd Place finish in the 120-pound bracket.  In the 3rd Place match, Hausen won by fall in overtime over Forest Lake’s Jacob Aho.  Congrats JT!!!

Hausen has been wrestling on varsity since 7th Grade for the Falcons, and wrestled for the Faribault Green Machine youth program since Pre-K.  Hausen is a captain for the 2021-22 team and state entrant in the 2021 state tournament.
