The Falcons hosted Mankato East and WEM/JWP on Thursday (1/14) and came away with two convincing wins. Falcons opened with a 57-17 win over conference foe Mankato East, and then ended the night with a near-identical 56-16 rout of WEM/JWP.
The Falcons scored two more victories on Thursday (1/7) with a 47-29 win over Rochester JM and a 49-15 rout of host Northfield. Riley Stoltz (106 lbs), Tony Avila (138), Austin Rendler (152), Ryan Mullennex (160), Ike Van Thomme (170), Felipe Ramirex (195), Dillon McEachran (225), and Edwin Santiago (Hwt) all went 2-0 on the day.
The squad wrestled at the 68-team Rumble on the Red during the holiday break and came back with five placewinners. Ryan Mullennex finished fourth at 160 pounds and Felipe Ramirez took sixth. Over in the JV brackets, Charlie Chambers won the 145-pound bracket with a 7-0 record (five pins and two major decisions), while two two others also came back with hardware: Cain VanRyn (fourth place) and Luke Morris (seventh place). The Falcons wrestle at Northfield on January 7 against Rochester JM and Northfield.
The Falcons competed at St. Olaf this past Saturday (Dec 19) and came away with a champion, a second-place finish, 3 third-place finishes, a fourth-place finish, a fifth-place finish, and a seventh-place finish. Riley Stoltz, 106-pounder, won his bracket and Ryan Mullennex took second place. A trio of Falcons finished third place in their brackets (Felipe Ramirez, Dillon McEachran, Edwin Santiago) while Ike Van Thomme finished fourth, Tony Avila finished fifth, and Josh Heyda took 7th place.
The Falcons traveled to Rochester Mayo on Thursday (Dec 17) and came back with a convincing 45-13 win. The Falcons won 11 of the 14 matches with no forfeits on the night. Click link below for the Daily News story:
The Falcons traveled up to Champlin Park on Friday evening (Dec 11) and came away with two wins. After an opening 48-18 loss to Eastview, ranked #9 in Class AAA, the Falcons ripped off wins over Andover 46-22 and Champlin Park 54-18. For the Daily News story, click on the link below.
