Faribault Wrestling brought 12 to qualify and advanced 4 individuals to the Minnesota 9th Grade State tournament this upcoming weekend, January 31. Seventh-grader Charlie Chambers (126 lbs), 9th graders Austin Rendler (138) and Dillon McEachran (Hwt) all won championships at their respective weights to advance. Also advancing was 9th grader Dillon Schrot (160) who took home second place after battling back in the consolation bracket and winning his True Second match. Just missing advancing to State was Josh Heyda (182) who took third place.
Earlier in the month, the Falcons made its return to 9th Grade Team action with a 3rd Place finish at the Eastview 9th Grade Team Tournament. The Falcons went 3-1 on the day with an opening-round 43-29 victory over host-team Eastview, then defeated Eden Prairie 43-30 before falling to New Prague 40-25 in the semifinals. They finished the competition with a 40-34 victory over Owatonna. Great job Falcons!

The Green Machine Youth won the 3rd Annual TCU Tournament for the third consecutive year on Sunday, January 11.

The elementary program came to an end on Saturday, November 15. Champions were crowned and all wrestlers received trophies not to mention the awesome experience and fun! The Academy Hawks (STEM, DMCS, FLS, MSAD) won the team title with a 32-22 win over Lincoln to finish the season 3-0. Congrats Hawks! If you enjoyed the in-house program, sign-up for the Green Machine club program. Practice begins November 18 but it’s never too late to join!

After winning Pool 8 last year (29th Place), the Green Machine tied Waseca 39-39 in the finals of Pool 2 (5th Place). Great job Green Machine! So many practices and hard work went into making the season great! Green Machine also came home with its first-ever NYWA State Champions, JT Hausen and Elliott Viland. Way to go, JT and Elliott!

The Green Machine took home 3rd Place last weekend with a 4-1 record advancing to the NYWA State tournament. After an opening round 66-6 rout of Stewartville, the Green Machine knocked off the 4th seed Byron Bears, 42-30, in a total team effort. The Green Machine then fell 37-22 to perennial power Kasson-Mantorville, owner of the past 8 regional titles and 7 state titles. Green Machine bounced back with a 58-13 rout over Chatfield followed by another 42-30 win over Byron. Great job and good luck at State this coming weekend!
