The Green Machine youth wrestling team had 34 wrestlers compete in the Kenyon Individual Tournament on Saturday, January 25. All wrestlers came away with trophies while nine took home first-place awards. The nine champions who won their respective weight brackets were Bo Bokman, Elliott Viland, Logan Vargo, Darby LaCanne, Brody Redding, Cole Redding, JT Hausen, Dylan Lippert, and Aiden Tobin. Bokman also took home the monster trophy for fastest pins in his age group.

Green Machine sends wrestlers to TCU and took first place, while also sends wrestlers to Mankato Team Tournament and tied for first place at 2-1 (St. Peter wins tiebreaker over Faribault and Waseca).

The Green Machine Youth Wrestling team bounced back from a rough start to its first-ever NYWA State appearance with two big wins on Sunday to take home 1st Place in Pool #8. The Green Machine took down Deer River in the first dual on Sunday, then dispatched Perham in the finale. Great finish to a fantastic season!
In the Individual State tournament, Owen Farmer began the tournament with two wins followed by two losses including a heartbreaking 3x OT decision, but Farmer came back with a last-second win in the 5th Place match.

The Green Machine advanced six individuals to the NYWA State Tournament. Owen Farmer took first place, JT Hausen and Benny Ryder placed second, while Cole Redding, Elliott Viland, and Charlie Chambers took home third place. They will wrestle April 5-7 at the Rochester Mayo Civic Center. Benny and Charlie will wrestle on Friday, while JT, Cole, Elliott, and Owen will wrestle starting Saturday. Coach Babcock made good on his promise! Coach promised the kids could cut and color his hair if the team qualified for NYWA State. No wonder the kids wrestled with such motivation at NYWA Regions. Prior to the Chatfield dual, coach Babcock reminded the kids of his promise. The Green Machine went out and dismantled Chatfield 63-6 to advance to its first-ever state appearance. Chatfield later went on to beat Zumbrota-Mazeppta, who coincidentally had beaten Faribault in the opening round. Green Machine team will wrestle next Saturday-Sunday, April 6-7, at the Mayo Civic Center.
