The Green Machine took home 3rd Place last weekend with a 4-1 record advancing to the NYWA State tournament. After an opening round 66-6 rout of Stewartville, the Green Machine knocked off the 4th seed Byron Bears, 42-30, in a total team effort. The Green Machine then fell 37-22 to perennial power Kasson-Mantorville, owner of the past 8 regional titles and 7 state titles. Green Machine bounced back with a 58-13 rout over Chatfield followed by another 42-30 win over Byron. Great job and good luck at State this coming weekend!

The Green Machine will be sending 7 wrestlers to the NYWA State tournament by placing in the Top 3 at Regions. Another 7 wrestlers placed in the Top 6 in their bracket. The state qualifiers are: D’Shaun Davis, JT Hausen, Logan Vargo, and Elliott Viland. Back row: Josh Oathoudt, Dylan Lippert, and David Tonjum. Good luck at State!

Andy Ness advanced to the Section 1AA finals with a fall over #1 seed Aaron Berge in the semifinals, and eventually took 2nd Place after a 5-4 loss in the finals. Ness will wrestle at the State Tournament this Friday, February 28. Ryan Mullennex placed 3rd and lost his True Second Match. Tony Avila placed 5th, while Trevor Morris and Isaac VanThomme placed 6th!

The Green Machine K-3rd Grade Team competed in the Waseca K-3 Tournament on Sunday, Feb 23. One team went 3-1 in the AA Pool to finish in 3rd Place, while another Green Machine team competed in the A Pool. Wrestlers on the AA Team were (front row): Willie Potter, JT Hausen, Elliott Viland, Madden Paul, Chase Vargo, Bo Bokman, Darby LaCanne. Green Machine competed in the Byron Challenge, one of the toughest individual tournaments in the state, this past weekend. As a team, they placed 8th which is the highest place ever (previous best was 13th). Also, they finished with its highest number of place-winners with seven (previous high was three). David Tonjum was also the first champion for the Falcons at the tournament. Riley Stoltz took 3rd Place, Elliott Viland took 4th, while Josh Oathoudt, Jon Caron, Alex Stewart, and Will Erickson finished 6th in their brackets.
